Okay, just listened to your #1 song. I liked the music in the intro, and I thought the music all the way through was pretty cool. Call me old-fashioned, but I can't get past the fact they have an album called Number of the Beast, and they title this song, Hallowed Be Thy Name. This phrase is an almost sacred phrase to all Christians because it is part of the Lord's Prayer. The lyrics weren't offensive to me, per se. A man about to be executed is preaching about the afterlife and the "illusion" of mortality. Not my cup of tea, but that's okay. I dont' understand why it makes it to the top of your list, though. Not having heard Iron Maiden much before, I anticipated listening to some pretty sophisticated an amazing musical talent, being that they are so high up on your list right now. I didn't see that in this song. Decent, but now blow-me-away musicality, as you like to call it. Didn't convince me to listen to more IM, but I'm up for a debate.

okay, just tried song #2. Couldn't get past 3:35. That was enough for me. Question: What do you get when you combine Yanni with Metallica, and plain vanilla vocals? Answer: Symphony X

The intro into the fast part was okay, and the drums entering the song was decent. But overall, that combination of instruments, combined with the horrible vocals didn't cut it for me.

I don't doubt they are talented musicians. . .

Okay, just tried #3 and couldn't get past 1:30 mark. Didn't like the music or the words, or the vocals. Not for me, thanks.

I'll have to try the others. It's a stretch that I'd like anything from DT or SX, but perhaps I'll like one of your IM picks.
